GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPANY'S ACTIVITIES AND IMPACT
In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. During the financial year 2025, Roconect CIC continued its work to support vulnerable individuals, strengthen community cohesion, and raise awareness of modern slavery and exploitation. The organisation delivered community engagement initiatives, cultural events, and awareness activities while working alongside churches, volunteers, community organisations, and public institutions. Key activities included promoting Romanian cultural heritage through public events, facilitating community participation in civic and parliamentary initiatives, and encouraging the reporting of modern slavery through its support and awareness campaigns.
These activities benefited the community by reducing social isolation, strengthening cultural identity, fostering greater community engagement, and supporting vulnerable individuals at risk of exploitation. Through its programmes and partnerships, Roconect CIC helped create stronger community networks and increased awareness of important social issues affecting the Romanian community and wider society in the UK. Key activities for 2025: On 12 April 2025 we organised Light and Peace concert at All Hallows by the Tower, London, bringing together members of the Romanian community from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Delivered in collaboration with volunteers, community organisations, faith groups and local businesses, the event promoted cultural heritage, social inclusion and community cohesion, further advancing the Company's community interest objectives.
Also in April 2025, Roconect marked International Roma Day through a community engagement initiative recognising the contribution and cultural heritage of Roma communities. As part of the event, we invited distinguished community and faith leaders, including Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain and Ciprian Jacheanu, pastor of one of the largest Roma churches in the United Kingdom, to deliver messages of encouragement and inclusion to members of the Romanian Roma community. The initiative promoted cultural awareness, community cohesion and social inclusion, and provided a positive platform for celebrating Roma identity and strengthening engagement with underrepresented communities.
In May through its Romanian Business Club initiative, Roconect continued to facilitate engagement between Romanian entrepreneurs from UK and European institutions through a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels. The initiative provided opportunities for business owners and professionals to engage with policymakers and discuss matters relating to entrepreneurship, innovation, economic development and cross-border collaboration. We have also organised the second Romanian Business Summit, held to mark Europe Day and to highlight the role of the Romanian diaspora in strengthening relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union.
